It's Summer in Seattle, folks, and so you know what that means: rain. Yes, rain. And plenty of it. It rains all the time in Seattle. Don't move here. There, now that I've got my required "more-native-than-thou" announcement out of the way, let me say that I've been remiss in telling you some things (not to mention those pesky book memes that I still haven't finished).
First off, please take note that Music and Cats has moved into its own luxurious domain, and the banner fotos alone are enough to get Kimberly busted for kitty porn (I said kitty, not kiddie). The wonderful writing is still there, but now it has a kick-ass new design to set it off beautifully. I have no envy whatsoever over the fact that she got her own domain name before I got mine. Nope, not one bit.
School's out and the kidlet has gone to my folks' house for several days leaving me in that surreal state of giddy freedom tempered by disorientation and a wee bit of sadness that having all this time on my hands usually gives me. It causes me to do weird things like go on dates. With men. Men are those creatures with facial hair and strange bits, you remember them, of course you do. Some of you even consort with them regularly. Some of you might even be them. But for me, this is a strangely foreign thing. Actually, it's only one date, and it's tonight. We're going dancing. On a weeknight! See? Totally surreal. I haven't done that since...oh god, I'm not even going to tell you how long it's been. Depending on how things go, I may or may not share the gory details.
Tomorrow night I am finally going to see Lucinda play live here with my friend Val, the published author of a real live book, who, under my evil influence, is going to start a blog. If it rains all over us, I'll be pissed. But, as I said, it is Summertime in Seattle.
I remember when I first moved to Portland Oregon (many years ago:) They had Oregon ungreeting cards to keep (mostly Californians) out. A lot of the cards made mention of how rainy it is all the time! Oh well it didn't keep me out. I've since returned to California but I do miss the seasons in the Northwest (the rainy seasons).
Good luck on your date tonight!

So when I called today and started talking to you about lunch and your date and all that, and didn't mention this post at all, that's because I hadn't read it yet. Because had I read it, I certainly would have said thank you for the lovely things you wrote. I'm pleased that, with the gazillions of photos that I take of the cats, I've gotten a few that I really like... and that crop nicely into banner shape!
But enough about me; how was your date? Dish, girlfriend!
