I don't believe that I have made the official announcement that I am soon to depart for Cowtown to finally meet none other than Miss Cowtown Pattie herself. She and I have been great online friends for ages now, and I can't wait to see her in the flesh and do a little boot scootin', road trippin', and for me at least, cowboy ropin'. This will be my first time in Texas, and my first vacation without the kidlet. Expect much debauchery, laughter, and cool fotos.
Second, considering my current state of involuntary celibacy, you must forgive me for taking such delight in this bit of snark. It harkens back to an article in the NY Times by former blogger and current Salon columnist Ayelet Waldman about how most women she runs across seem to have lost their libidos, and any love or devotion they had for their husbands to motherhood, but that she and her hubby are still so hot for each other that she uses cheap romance novel words like torrid to describe it. After reading her column I felt like I should be curled up in the corner in the fetal position simply because I don't have a husband to love and cherish (and do the nasty with) as much as she does hers. It's not so much her feelings as her smugness about them that make her snarkworthy. [Via The Sheila Variations]

I have gotten to know Pattie too... I'd love to visit her sometime... we have a lot in common... including lots of teens! I hope you have a great time.

How nice for you to meet a fellow-blogger! Enjoy your trip without appendage (also known as kidlet--I have one too). Widebluesky
