Don't know how to break it to the women over at misbehaving, but in the kidlet's kindergarten class last week they did an exercise where each child announced something they were good at. Of the eleven boys in his class, five of them said, "I'm good at computers." Anyone want to hazard a guess at how many girls chimed in with the same respone? Yup, not a single one. Sigh
This just outrages me. I know a three-year old - for whom I bought a mouse that fits her little hand - who loves the computer, is amazingly proficient and the games her parents have selected have her reading already.
And if you ask, she'll tell you she's really good at computers. Of course, her dad is a graphic designer, but how hard is it to give girls the same chance as boys.

Well, I've been wondering where that disparity comes from, and was quite surprised to see it as I imagine most households in that group do have computers, and the girls surely use them. One possibility that occurred to me: for this exercise they went around the room, and once one boy said he was good at computers, then all the rest followed. One girl said she was good at scuba diving because she'd just read a book about it. If I had a girl, I'd be making damn sure she was good at computers.

Obviously if girls don't like computers as much as boys it must mean that they have been "socialized" into staying away from them and this socialization is of course just another plot by "the patriarchy" to hold back the woman.
Solution: Make a government-funded campaign for it and protest on the streets and say "if you have a penis it's your problem" and get more school programs to suppress boys. That Title IX was a nice one.
