I am going to play the "seven random things about me" meme in the hopes that by posting something, anything, here, it will get me back in the swing of posting more regularly.
1. I spend a disproportionate amount of my money on food. I am happy to pay exhorbitant prices for really good food (coffee), while I am appalled at the price of clothes, and hardly ever buy any.
2. I used to be pretty good at riding a horse, and in fact took a ribbon in the barrel races at camp one Summer at the Bar 41 Ranch. For a suburban girl who grew up on Main Street, that pleases me to no end.
3. I can still sing camp songs from both Bar 41 ("There's a ranch up in the HILLLS, where life is full of THRILLLLLS...") and the other Summer camp I used to go to, Camp Sealth. ("We are the whitecaps, give us a cheer! Sweat shirts and blue jeans and smiles from ear to ear.")
4. I cry whenever I see a marching band in a parade. I also cry while applauding during curtain calls.
5. My first job was at Sears. I worked breifly in the cafeteria and then for many years in the hardware department. I loved freaking out the old farts who didn't think I would know a ratchet from a hex wrench. Lots of kids from my high school worked there, and there was always all sorts of romance and intrigue going on behind the scenes.
6. In Mexico, I lived for a time in a house without a refrigerator. This was far less burdensome than washing all my clothes by hand.
7. I pretty much always have a crush on someone. Ever since I can remember, this has been true.
(Updated to add: I do not currently have a crush on anyone who reads this blog, so you can all breathe your sighs of relief.)
Special bonus random thing: I am particularly good at remembering random sequences of numbers. Credit card numbers, phone numbers, pi, you name it, it's probably floating around in my head somewhere.
I WENT TO CAMP SEALTH! Once, for a week, only it was probably only five days. I was so homesick that I can't remember much, except that. Being homesick. I hope you had enough fun for both of us!

I also love good food and can be a snob - if I am very poor I get less but still go quality. To extend I will use beans and veges - not no name brands!
I often imagine what it would be like to go to camp like in the American movies... And go girl - barrel racing!! Let me tell you, non-riders, that is very impressive!

I too can remember random sequences of numbers yet I'm not that great at maths. I don't know whether to be proud - or not- that I can remember my credit card number, expiry date and even the 3 digit code on the back of the card.

Random sequences of numbers--I thought I was the only one.

Bar 41, homestead nights, end of week races, being pulled down to the swimming area by a slow, loud tractor while sitting on hay that pokes.
25 years later, I still miss it all.

Bar 41! The best camp ever! I must have gone there 10 years in a row. What great memories... My boys, all of today's kids for that matter, need a camp like Bar 41 Ranch. Life is full of fun...
