I love things that are falling apart, crumbling, dying, decaying, rusting--moving away from the conventionally beautiful and into a different sort of beauty. PT is a great town for this sort of thing. There are many many 19th century homes here (and plenty from the early decades of the 20th). While a lot of them have been lovingly restored, many of them haven't. This brings me great joy, and lots of subject matter.
I'm not sure why I have a thing for garages. Perhaps it is their compactness, but I think it is more precisely to do with the proportion of the door to the overall structure; so much of them consists of an opening, a passageway to something else. The doors are often quite beautiful in and of themselves. Anyway, I've been wanting to do a series on garages for a couple of years now, and so I am. Thanks for letting me share them with you.
I love this series and I'm looking forward to more.
