They have a brewfest! Which was held this past weekend and was attended by my father (champion beer drinker and home brewer) and myself (lightweight, but enthusiastic beer drinker). We waited in a long and winding line to purchase our official brewfest commemorative beer glass and four tokens which could then be exchanged for--of course--beer. I had an IPA from which brewery I've already forgotten; a really fabulous chocolatey stout from a brewery called Flyers; and then more IPA, this time from the fine folks at Boundary Bay in Bellingham. It was perhaps the finest IPA I have ever sampled, and I assure you that's not due to the significant buzz I was enjoying by that time. I did, however, offer my final token to my father, because for me there is a fine line between 'quite buzzed' and bending over the planters tossing my cookies, and I don't think that's the vision I wish to give my fellow townsfolk at this early stage in our relationship.
The weather was fine but chilly, and we gravitated towards the propane heaters set up outside the beer tent and watched the sun go down and the moon come up over the bay, switching our beers from right hand to left hand to right again to try and keep the feeling in our fingertips. Then we put the empty glasses in our coat pockets and went off in search of something for dinner.
You know how lucky you are.

That sounds SO fun. Bizarrely I also got to sample some brews from Boundary Bay, and I *also* was crazy about their IPA.
miss having you around.
Have been writing you a card for a month or so. Expect it by summer. I mean well. I know you understand.

I'm going to dig up a bottle of Dogfish Head I've been hanging onto for a special moment. I'm going to drink it in your honour.
