Seattle is having record breaking hot weather this week. Seattleites are notoriously wimpy in the heat. You really can't blame us, none of us have AC, and many of us live in second or third floor apartments with poor air circulation. After spending Saturday out and about all day (and eating fabulous homemade pasta at Cafe Lago*) I spent yesterday being as lazy as I possibly could. I think I took no fewer than three naps. My apartment actually has excellent circulation, and I was never more content than when I was lying on my couch, eyes closed, with the breeze blowing over me, listening to my neighbor playing his conga drum.
*You really should check out that link to Cafe Lago, it's one of the coolest website designs for a restaurant I've ever seen.
Update: For Kimberly, I will add that I saw another hawk today flying outside my window. It was close enough that I could see the pattern underneath its wings, which reminded me of the wings I saw on display in the Burke Museum: each feather laid out just so, irridescent and deceptively delicate looking.
Were I not working (way too much) in an air-conditioned office, I would certainly have had to spend much of yesterday in a movie theater. Of course, I'd rather have spent much of yesterday at the movies.
Thank you for the view-from-my-window report, Ms. Nina!

You're so right. That is an exceptional website. Just beautiful.
And by the way, I tagged you. Don't hold it against me.
