My friend Phil and I have decided that we are going to eat our way through Seattle's finest restaurants. Of course, this includes the coffee shops. Last night we finally showed up early enough to get a table at Lark, the current darling of the Seattle food scene. I'm always a little wary of the latest big thing, but I knew it was going to be a good evening when I saw they had wines from Syncline on the menu, and we promptly ordered their rosé to sip while we waited to be seated. It just kept getting better from there. A tasty enough goat cheese was made sublime by the addition of a lovely floral honey; we made our way through a simple potato and fennel salad, the yellowtail carpaccio , and arrived happily at the end of our meal with a fabulous pasta dish made with the first morels of the season. Everything was simply prepared and delicious, it was one of those delightful meals where everything comes together and complements everything else perfectly. I kept eyeing the crispy Liberty Farm duck leg, but we decided on dessert and coffee at the venerable B & O espresso instead. (I didn't have my camera with me, so just swiped a foto I posted at Doppio awhile back.)
