Dandelions are very cool and pretty and FUN, please dont kill them! You can have fun with scattering their fuzzy seeds, and you can make noisy horns out of their stems. The leaves are very nutritious (but bitter). Dandelion leaf tea is also a very good blood purifier (as long as you arent allergic)

Those smells you talk about are *exactly* why I want to get out of NYC a soon as possible- I want them to be as much a part of Daya's childhood as they were a part of mine.

Happy weeding!

Woman with Kids

I love digging at my yard... haven't the faintest clue what I'm doing, but I'm doing it! In my yard! And it makes me happy! ...until I see the mess I've made...

Loved this post! My two little ones and I were out raking the yard today, with grandpa's help. I started in on some weeding and gave up about halfway through, as the kids started riding their bikes through my path! :}

Ahh - I know that feeling - be aware, however, that it is VERY addictive and you can end up spending hours and hours lost in pulling weeds.

As to dandelions - well, unless they are completely different to the ones over here, pull them up. The are cute etc, etc - but they are very prolific and their leaves kill all beneath and pretty soon you can end up with a back yard of dandelions and dirt - I speak with experience!
